About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

The Blues

I'm having the blues. Last nite I had very vivid dreams caused by my antidepressants. Well, I hate the bad dreams,...I wake up crying sometimes, and just feeling blue. On the other hand, the meds are working so well during the day and helping me cope with all of life's crap. I found out that my probable kidney donor ( she had surpassed so many tests) cannot be a donor because she has developed health issues. So, not only do I go back to square one hoping for a donor, I am worried about her health!

Christmas was wonderful. All of us were in one big community room at my Mom's apartment. How nice to be all together instead of some in the family room, some in the living room, etc. I got a picture of each family and made a digital scrapbook which I will try and post when I get it figured out.

Holiday Closing In

The holiday is coming, ready or not....so why do I feel blue today? I am ready, have my presents wrapped, my cards sent, house is ALMOST cleaned. Today am just going to the hospital for a quick Christmas party and then to get my nails done. Taking a gift back to the store, taking Dan to get a gift. A snowstorm is on it's way. I hope it doesn't impede our Christmas Eve plans.

Saturday Musings

Yesterday kept feeling like a Monday, so all during the night, I kept thinking I had appointments today. Thank God it's Saturday and I don't. Last night I enjoyed a quiet night and played 1 vs. 100 with my son on Xbox 360. He is good at the sports questions and we both get the other ones. I get the "older" stuff.

I have been busy crafting all week. I don't know how much more I can take. Tried to make a star book Thursday night and it just wouldn't line up. I wasted so much paper! And, of course, myself, being anal, had to take it apart and throw it away cause I was so frustrated!

I don't work this weekend, so back at the star books. I have to pick up some birthday presents and some odds and ends this morning. Need to finish a Secret Santa gift too. Want to post some pics on here. Got to work at that. I need more TIME!

Next week is nuts! Monday night is a Stamp Along, Tuesday night, Pendants, Wednesday night is work party. YIKES!

Somewhere along here I have to get the tree up, clean, get cards out, and wrap presents! Calgon, take me away!

Hectic Holidays!

Today after work I frosted and decorated cookies with my two great nephews, bff, Linda and friend Simone. We had a nice time and it's beginning to feel alot like Christmas!

Thursday nite made fused glass pendants. I can't wait till it is finished and I can post it here! Check out the website www.artworksetcstudios.com
Been busy making Secret Santa gifts, but can't give anything away till everyone gets their gift!

Who has time to clean?

Diet, Health and Wellness

I was doing well this week on my "diet" of sort. Eating my fruits and vegetables. Yesterday I ended up in ER with a partial bowel obstruction. Ouch! Fortunately the ER doc and I were on the same page and he did what he's supposed to do. "And it came to Pass...." So after 5 1/2 hours I was ready to go home. Did I go on the clears that I'm supposed to go on? NOOOOOOOOOO! I had a double cheeseburger from Micky D's. This weekend was supposed to be on the BRAT diet. That stands for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. Ain't gona happen. Going to Appleton with my bff and sister for our annual Fall get away. This includes shopping,
eating out (do you think Red Lobster is on the Brat diet?), and having fun!!!

Something new this year: We are having a spa day. Going to have a spa special of a massage, pedicure and manicure. I am looking forward to that!

Hoping to hook up with my niece and her baby this weekend too. Love those girls!

Have a great weekend and eat those fruits and veggies for me.

Just another Sunday?

Stayed home from church as I have this awful cold I am trying to get over by tomorrow! Watched a very touching movie. ....something like "Me and My Dog, Skip." Cried like a baby cause the poor dog died of old age...LOL

Waiting to take Danny back to Green Bay then stop at Basils for a bite to eat. Basils is off the beaten path of Denmark, but owned by Krohls so the burgers are like the original!

Think I know what I am doing about the job dilemma. I know I am not cut out to work four days a week. Just don't have the energy any more. Well, my supervisor will have a clear conscience knowing she offered...LOL

Do you think Green Bay will even beat the Vikings? I could only wish.

Zumba, fish and bad dreams....

Last nite after work, I went to my first ZUMBA class. I thought I was gonna die! It is a combination of salsa, Indian and Jazzercize. Of course, I was the oldest in the class, but I made it through. I picked up a fish dinner at the hospital. I was starved. Also ate some cookies...then some candy.

I did my Bible Study and went to bed. Had awful dreams about Jim and I being in some type of swap group. He went to have sex with some lady and I woke up not too happy. I thought I was going to smack him if I had stayed in bed with him.

Made some Halloween Cards the other night but of course, I don't like them. I can't get at my Halloween stamps, everything is all over the place right now. I might give up making cards for now. Maybe will scrapbook instead.

Getting my hair colored and cut at the beauty school. Maybe it will end up with purple in it...LOL! NOT! Then I have to stop at Mom's to pick up some pea soup. Have to go to my neighbor's to give her her Avon order. Tonite is the Red Hat Halloween party. Next picture here will be me in my Halloween costume!

Dark & Dreary

Did you ever feel like the weather?....all dark and dreary? That is how I feel today. I am sure it is because I haven't accomplished some of the things I set out to do this week. I meant to join the Senior Center and check out the fitness room. I meant to make my Halloween cards, and I meant to exercise!

I have ordered some new vitamins to see if they really make a difference in my health and energy. Will let you all know if they work! I think I have a doctor's appointment coming up, but I forgot. Where is that slip? Can't check my own appointments, so will have to have one of the girls check for me on Monday. I go see the transplant specialist on Wednesday.

Linda and I had a winning streak going on. First I won a sterling silver and turquoise pendant from Inman's Jewelrers at the Women's Expo. That night I won over $80 at the casino too! Then Linda got a call and won a prize from The Honey Pot and also a basket of natural cosmetics from Dermatology Associates. Then I won a basket from Usana for Life. Then her hubby won $20 on the cherry machine at Emerald Hills. Woo hoo! We are on a roll!

I am a little disappointed. Danny went for an interview at Family Video and was told he didn't fit the job, that he needed to be more outgoing. Not a bad thing...just would have been nice for him to get some job experience.

Wonder if the market is open today? Maybe I need to go check out the crafts to lift my spirits.

Wha's Up?

Changed my profile pic. Love this pic of my bff, Linda and I! We were looking hot!...LOL...as hot as any middle aged women can look!

My Tastefully Simple open house was a bust. Thank God for good friends or I wouldn't have had any orders. Think my career is on it's way out!

Went for a group interview at Kohl's. Even though I would love to work in the jewelry or cosmetics department, don't think Jim is keen on the huge cut in pay. It would take two days to earn just what I get on unemployment! Maybe it is better to just rest up till I get a kidney.

Have been gone almost every weekend! Went with a friend from Minnesota to Peoria to meet another friend and have a craft fest. The friend in Illinois taught me a new card technique (which involves teeny tiny gems) and one stroke painting. My friend from Minnesota taught me about painting light bulbs for ornaments!

The weekend after that Jim and I went to Illinois to go to Rochelle to go to the best pizza place ever....Aldo's. Waited till Saturday and got there when it was closed! Looks like a future road trip! We did enjoy our hotel: The Lexington Cliffbreakers Resort. Beautiful antique furnished rooms, a jacuzzi, great food! Went to the Anderson Japenese Gardens. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Tastefully Simple Again?

Just can't decide if I should try Tastefully Simple again, or see if I can get a different traditional job, or just hang in there. I had fun doing TS, and who knows? Maybe I would get new leads and parties?

I need more time!

Today I HAVE to clean...arghhh! Going up north tomorrow for a weekend spiritual retreat. Oh, it's not all Bible reading...there is a pontoon ride, a visit to a waterfall, a wagon ride, lots of neat activities. The craft for the weekend is going to be a decopaged box! I always wanted to do that!

Monday I will have to go back to work. Tuesday is another cleaning day and Wednesday my friend, Judy is coming from Minnesota! Woo hoo! Taking a trip to Peoria to visit another one of our crafty friends. Wonder what ideas she will have?

Don't have any time for craft challenges, unless I get it done tonite. Have a great and crafty weekend!

Convertible ride or Cleaning?

Yesterday my friend Linda and I went for a ride in the little red convertible. Much more fun on a warm sunny day than housecleaning! The dust will keep. We went to some rummage sales, which we had to limit ourselves to smaller items. However, I did find a nice leather computer chair for only $2! The man delivered it too!

Discussing if we are bringing a craft along on our retreat next weekend. What to bring? Will we really have that much time to craft?

Is this late summer weather being good to you?

New Website

I have been selling Avon for years, but decided to make it easier for my friends who like to order, to view the "book" online. You can still call me to order, or order online!

Scrapbooking Fun

My friend Linda and I made a paperbag book the other night. Have to scan it yet so I can post the pics!

Why I Created this Blog

I heard from a friend that this is a good way to promote my business. Could be! It is also a good way to stay in touch with family and friends
