About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Zumba, fish and bad dreams....

Last nite after work, I went to my first ZUMBA class. I thought I was gonna die! It is a combination of salsa, Indian and Jazzercize. Of course, I was the oldest in the class, but I made it through. I picked up a fish dinner at the hospital. I was starved. Also ate some cookies...then some candy.

I did my Bible Study and went to bed. Had awful dreams about Jim and I being in some type of swap group. He went to have sex with some lady and I woke up not too happy. I thought I was going to smack him if I had stayed in bed with him.

Made some Halloween Cards the other night but of course, I don't like them. I can't get at my Halloween stamps, everything is all over the place right now. I might give up making cards for now. Maybe will scrapbook instead.

Getting my hair colored and cut at the beauty school. Maybe it will end up with purple in it...LOL! NOT! Then I have to stop at Mom's to pick up some pea soup. Have to go to my neighbor's to give her her Avon order. Tonite is the Red Hat Halloween party. Next picture here will be me in my Halloween costume!

Dark & Dreary

Did you ever feel like the weather?....all dark and dreary? That is how I feel today. I am sure it is because I haven't accomplished some of the things I set out to do this week. I meant to join the Senior Center and check out the fitness room. I meant to make my Halloween cards, and I meant to exercise!

I have ordered some new vitamins to see if they really make a difference in my health and energy. Will let you all know if they work! I think I have a doctor's appointment coming up, but I forgot. Where is that slip? Can't check my own appointments, so will have to have one of the girls check for me on Monday. I go see the transplant specialist on Wednesday.

Linda and I had a winning streak going on. First I won a sterling silver and turquoise pendant from Inman's Jewelrers at the Women's Expo. That night I won over $80 at the casino too! Then Linda got a call and won a prize from The Honey Pot and also a basket of natural cosmetics from Dermatology Associates. Then I won a basket from Usana for Life. Then her hubby won $20 on the cherry machine at Emerald Hills. Woo hoo! We are on a roll!

I am a little disappointed. Danny went for an interview at Family Video and was told he didn't fit the job, that he needed to be more outgoing. Not a bad thing...just would have been nice for him to get some job experience.

Wonder if the market is open today? Maybe I need to go check out the crafts to lift my spirits.

Wha's Up?

Changed my profile pic. Love this pic of my bff, Linda and I! We were looking hot!...LOL...as hot as any middle aged women can look!

My Tastefully Simple open house was a bust. Thank God for good friends or I wouldn't have had any orders. Think my career is on it's way out!

Went for a group interview at Kohl's. Even though I would love to work in the jewelry or cosmetics department, don't think Jim is keen on the huge cut in pay. It would take two days to earn just what I get on unemployment! Maybe it is better to just rest up till I get a kidney.

Have been gone almost every weekend! Went with a friend from Minnesota to Peoria to meet another friend and have a craft fest. The friend in Illinois taught me a new card technique (which involves teeny tiny gems) and one stroke painting. My friend from Minnesota taught me about painting light bulbs for ornaments!

The weekend after that Jim and I went to Illinois to go to Rochelle to go to the best pizza place ever....Aldo's. Waited till Saturday and got there when it was closed! Looks like a future road trip! We did enjoy our hotel: The Lexington Cliffbreakers Resort. Beautiful antique furnished rooms, a jacuzzi, great food! Went to the Anderson Japenese Gardens. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.
