About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Snow, Cold and Christmas Greetings

I have yet to take a picture of my poor little tree on the porch.  When the storm came, the tree bit the dust, er....snow, and the lights went out permanently.  It is way too cold to restring them now.  There is still snow on it's wee little branches.  One of my handmade cards.  You can't tell, but the white card stock is embossed with little poinsettias.

I promised some pics from the storm. Here you go: Looks peaceful here, but the winds were wicked the day before and it was frigid outside to say the least!

Makes me want to stay inside, but it isn't so bad anymore.  The highway crew has most of the roads scraped down.  They were rather bumpy for the most part as the ice underneath froze in clumps.  Fun driving weather!

I made a few cards and as I receive them, I send them out.  I picked out my Christmas outfit (to be shown after Christmas).  I have wrapping and cleaning and decorating yet to do!  How about you?

uhhhhhh.....I have some wrapping done, some cards done, NO tree, NO baking, NO cleaning done, and I feel TOO FAT to care what I wear. How's that for the holiday spirit? I think I will feel better after we go to my daughter's for Christmas tomorrow and see the kids.
