About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Good:  We had a scare last weekend.  My brother had a severe rectal bleed and we were afraid it was his cancer returning.  He was diagnosed with diverticulitis which is treatable.  They are still doing tests, but he is home and feeling better.

I had my job evaluation which I was scheduled to have when I broke my leg.  It went well and I think I will get a raise.  I am very happy in my job....I only wish I was part-time with benefits.  Not only do I miss the benefits, but really miss the extra pay!

I am functioning without my crutches!  I am doing laundry and cleaning again....oh yay!...LOL

The Bad:  My foot still hurts.  It still swells up and I was told by my doctor it could take anywhere from four to six months to heal.  I have to do my exercises.

The Ugly:  I feel so bad for my bff and her stepdaughter (my niece) who are caught up in a family feud.  What happened was a misunderstanding.  One of the aunt's (the other Godmother) wasn't invited to the wedding shower.  They were trying to limit the guests to those whom she thought would actually come.  Aunt has to work alot and has never been to visit.  Oops, oversight...not intentionally meant to be cruel.  Aunt is hurt, her daughter is po'd.  Words were said...hurtful words.   Aunt wants to never speak to my niece again.  Her loss.  Niece feels bad and will write an apology.  Will apology be accepted?  Will this grudge go on for years?  (the family is notorious for this)  What a mess!

Don't Push It!

I overdid it this weekend.  I was cleaning my closets.  Have boxes of clothes for a garage sale; clothes to be put in plastic bins in case I lose 10 pounds or more.  (?????)  You never know, it COULD happen!  I have decided that I will need more than one rummage sale.  As I clean out the house, the need will arise.  I will have a ton of crafting things to get rid of too.  I decided I am a shopaholic who cannot resist a deal.  Hence my addiction to thrift stores and garage sales.  Problem is, I buy stuff because it's a deal, and not because I need it for anything.  I have to try and avoid this.  It is so HARD!  I love to look, love to buy.  I have more scrub tops than I would ever need since I only work twice a week!  Jeans.....should I even go there?  Do you know I have five, count them, FIVE black tops?    I haven't even gone through my shoes and purses yet.  I shall be ruthless!
