About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Shabby Chic Class

My bff and I took our monthly trip to Achivers to take a "Shabby Chic" class. It is a Tim Holtz method. Some of it we liked (reverse stamps), some of it we didn't like (daubing ink on the card, rather than using a brayer) My favorite card is the one with the ferns. My least favorite is the chandelier. Oh well, they can't all be 10's!

New pics

Finally uploaded Dan's graduation pics and pics from July weddings. (We have one to go!). Other than that, not much else is new. It has been HOT, HUMID, and raining alot! Getting ready for the Red Hat city picnic. Have to go shopping for that and make party favors at my house, which means I have to straighten up my house! YIKES! Tomorrow am going to Archivers and Michaels with my bff and then treat ourselves to a good lunch somewhere.

Seeing the Good in Things

Okay, I am trying to see the good in things.  I didn't like the weekend.  It was a disappointment.  The weather was hot and humid (it didn't rain though).  We didn't see the fireworks...too hot to wait four more hours (Jim did see his favorite band).  Went out to dinner and didn't like my food (the manager took it off the bill and I had enough to eat).  The weekend wasn't what I expected or hoped for, but I had my husband and son.  Some don't.  My foot hurt, but that was the only thing and I felt otherwise healthy.
I got to try out my first slider at White Castle.  Hmmm...jury is out.  They are cheap!  Fries were good.  At least I can finally say I went to White Castle...we don't have them here in Wisconsin.

Today I have my Red Hat Queen's meeting.  A good reason for ladies to lunch....LOL.  Tonite is our Royal Purple Belles meeting where we will eat (everything involves food) and work on our Red Hat scrapbook.

Tomorrow is my appointment with the dentist and get my teeth cleaned and get my crown put back in.  In the afternoon Mom and I are going for our massages!  Woo hoo!  She is 90 years young and it is her first massage.  I am sure she will love it.

May summer not go too quickly for any of us!
