About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

I think I need a new Brain!

Last night we went to an annual event, called "Heartarama" cause it raises money for the National Heart Association.  It is a large group of local people putting on skits, singing, dancing, etc. and some of it is quite good.  They have free popcorn, beer and soda for sale and the ever popular "heart" dogs (hot dogs).  One of our Red Hat friends was in the show and I wish my camera could take good pics in the dark, cause she looked fabulous!

After, or during the show, my stupid ostomy bag leaked.  Oh my!  I couldn't get out to go to the restroom, the show was going on, the tables and chairs are close together and I didn't want to disturb anyone.  So, I hung on....literally, and waited till I got home to clean up and change.  It wasn't noticeable to anyone but me, but it it tiresome to be somewhere and have this happen.  At 11pm I threw my clothes into the wash.  Bedtime for me.

Had nightmares all night.  One episode had me leaving my bff behind, and I was in distress cause I could not stop my car and get back to her.  Another one had me very upset.  I was very casually dressed and all these people were at my house in my basement, (but it wasn't my basement).  Hubby and I were trying to clean it as it was in total chaos.  I broke a overhead light fixture and was crying but someone tried to comfort me, but it wasn't hubby.  Not right.  I went over to hubby and told him and he held me and we both cried.  What the hell does this dream mean?

Apparently I didn't have enough fluids yesterday and last night and got muscle spasms in my leg.  Owwwwwwwie!  My calf still hurts.

Here are some pics from the other day at our Red Hat Event.  I won an Iris.

Party favors that we made.

Yippee, I won!

My sister won this hat...she's not sure how she looks.  I think it's adorable.

Sandy won a hat too!  I think it needs to be made to fit a bit tighter on her wee little head!
