About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

A busy summer!

Last Saturday we went to the most fantastic birthday party for a one year old.  Really it was an excuse for a family reunion.  The birthday boy was Jim's great nephew. The nieces and nephews have moved all over the country and were all home so a great time for a party and to see everyone.   The party had a circus theme.  There were cute centerpieces, circus themed cake, drink dispenser, playthings for the kids, you name it.  Birthday boy will not even remember it but his older sisters might.

We had a good time!
Sunday was my great nephew, Travis'  graduation from high school.party.  He is going into the National Guard this week.  He is a good kid.  The party was nice but there were some tense moments as the party was shared between Trav' grandma, dad and mom.  Dad and mom are divorced....hence, the tension.  The mom is on her own for the next son after this experience.  Dad will have his own party for son number two.
The moral of the story.  If there are bad feelings between exes, don't bother trying to work with them!

Do you think we look like sisters?...LOL!
Went to the Fireworks for the 4th of July.  In the words of my great niece: "Wow, wow, wow, wow!"  She will be three next month and is a human tornado!  She is a sweet, lovable little girl though!

My hubby and I went to Summerfest on Wednesday.  It is a music festival, mostly for young people but a few of us oldies but goodies attend.  Jim's favorite band, Tonic, was playing.  They have had several grammy nominated songs.

There are all types of people at Summerfest! It is fun to just people watch.   The best part was hubby holding my hand all night.  It was a rare treat for just the two of us to go away for a night.

Today is another graduation party; this time for our neighbor's daughter.  Summer is a busy time.

I am in a accessory swap hosted by Pam in http://over50feeling40.blogspot.com/  Check out her blog!
