About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

...and now an Intermission

I had the Red Hat picnic on Tuesday night.  It was uneventful for me.  I had made the centerpieces and a few of us decorated the gym (it rained...our first rain out in 6 years).  The food was good.  We played some games.  It was okay.

Wednesday through today I work.  Nothing new there!

Tomorrow is my great niece's third birthday.  I will be sure to take pictures.  I feel very close to her mom (my niece) as she feels a connection to our family because of her mom.  Her mom (my sister) died when she was 32.  My niece was 7 then.  Anyway, that's as clear as mud.  I will be sure to take pictures!

I am considering discontinuing the blog.  I am not a writer.  I don't even have anything interesting to say.  Maybe I just need a break.  I am not looking for compliments or anything.  I just don't know what and how to write.  Maybe I will write about my son, or growing up.  Who knows?

Don't quit...just take a vacation!! During the time off..keep a list of all of the different topics you could blog about...take some pictures...and store up some posts so that when you return you have much material..
Sounds like there has been much stress lately...crunched cars, rained out events, grieving sister...just take some time and pamper yourself...but don't quit just yet. There is another blogger who takes the whole month of August off...maybe you could try that...

Some 'experts' say that you have to specialize your blog for it to be good, as you know I don't follow that rule. I like Pam's idea of keeping a list of things to blog about. I do that....sometims my mind overflows and sometimes it's blank. You do have lots of interests......

Oh no! I just found your blog so don't stop now! ;-) That's easy for me to say since I don't have a blog and experience the burnout or whatever goes with daily (or frequent) posting. BTW, you have far more to say than I would and that is why I don't have a blog at this point.

Take a break if you need, but you may well discover that you miss blogging! I have been in a slump myself, but have started keeping a tablet by my chair to write down ideas as they come to me. Otherwise, I forget and feel as if I have nothing to say.

It can be hard to think about stuff to write...I just write about what I do..

I felt like this last week. I mean - who wants to know that I had my great nephew to stay ? But we share experiences here & support each other.

I just read your last post. A ( new to me ) friend's daughter died four years ago aged 17 & people are asking her, " Oh, are you not over it yet ? "

Maybe she should Blog ???

I think of things to say while I'm out dog walking or when at home I scribble ideas down & think
... " I'll do a Blog post about that "
