About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

If the Shoe Fits, Buy It!

These are the sandals of my dreams.  I have coveted them for over a year!
Imagine how the pewter patent leather reflects the color of a skirt or slacks.  Check out the zipper details!
They are soft and cushion-y.  How could I NOT want them?  Manufactured in Spain with Italian leather and retailing for well over $100, I first laid my eyes on these beauties in a little boutique near Green Bay, WI.
Oh, how I loved them!   I googled.  I binged.  I ebayed.  Last year I found them on "Zappos," but by the time I decided to give in to temptation, they were gone.

This year I found them on "6 PM" so when the price dropped to $68 (which is a ridiculous price for me to pay for any sandals), I had to make the purchase!

I love shoes and purses.  They don't make me look fatter.  In fact, I am sure the sandals will make my butt look smaller, don't you?

of course they will make your butt look smaller.

Steak and kiney pie, is beef steak and kidneys, along with mushrooms in a beef gravy and in this case a shortcrust pastry on the top.

A typical British dish and really very good normally.

Helle Comfort are wonderful shoes and will last a really long time. I have several pair. Two are booties and I have worn them so many times I cannot count. They are comfortable above all. Worth every penny for sure.
