About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Still Some Summer Left!

Where did the Summer go?  It was so hot...too hot, for long walks, intended bike rides, even trips to the beach.  I am not the type who goes to the beach alone, or for that matter, does much alone.  I like companionship.  My bff was busy with grandchildren this Summer, and I understand. They grow up too fast!

I did not make it to the Aquatic center.  I am getting too old to get on and off the tubes in the Lazy River without fear of injury.  My sister has back and leg problems.  What a pair!

I had a too late in the season yard sale instead of going to Algoma Shanty Days (craft fair).  Didn't go to the county fair either.

I did go camping twice!  I have a new job (seven months) and it went great this week!  I sat with my Mom in the gazebo where she resides enjoying her companionship and the gentle breeze.

So, what's left?  I might get hubby to go to a county fair in a neighboring city this weekend.   In September I'm going on a work-sponsored bus trip to a craft fair near Milwaukee with sis and bff.  Maybe I'll start walking or get the bike out since it has cooled off a bit.  There's still some Summer left!

I hear you- Summer has just flown past for me- I am probably like your BFF -always something going on with the grandkids and then life in general. It does make it hard to maintain outside friendships. However, I am a good ONLINE friend!;>) I can sit in the AC of my living room and type away.

Glad your job seems to have settled down and glad that you got to spend some time with your Mom. Blessings- Diana
