About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Summer Continues

Friday I decided to join my sister at the campground.  First we went out for perch lunches.  Yummmm!
Then after had a nice little campfire with a few of her friends from the camping club.  I went home the next day around noon.  My allergies were kicking up something terrible.  I took something but ended up sleeping for two hours in the afternoon!  After sneezing and blowing my nose most of the day, I decided to take another antihistamine.  Relief!

Hubby and I went to Crabby Bill's for a hamburger.  They make gourmet burgers there.  We had the California burger which includes guacamole.  Another yummm!  (I think I know why I don't lose weight!)

We then went to the Lakeshore.  It is "Kites over the Lakeshore" weekend.  People come from all over to see the dancing kites, racing kites, kites of all sizes and shapes!  Last night was supposed to be the kite glow.  People release lighted lanterns into the sky in memory of someone or something similar.  Last year there were 400 released and I have never seen it.  So we found our spot and waited, people watched, waited some more.  It got too windy.  They had fireworks, but it was a tad windy for that too.

So, the kite glow will take place this afternoon in the daylight.

Hopefully the weather will cooporate, and hubby will too, and go with me.

I bet that is something to see. I think kites are really cool too.
