About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Almost Friday!

I don't know what happened to the week!  Let's see, laundry, visiting Mom, a little Goodwill shopping?

I found a sweater from Christopher and Banks (my favorite store) and a tee from Kohl's.  The sweater is great for cool summer days and nights and goes with a few tops I already own.  I ran into a coworker at Goodwill....great minds think alike.

Speaking of Goodwill.  I bought a pair of shoes a few weeks back.  Ettienne Aigner....green canvas peep toe wedges.  They still had the tag on from TJ Max.  Now I know why.  Yesterday I wore them to work.  I figured they were good enough for switchboard as I didin't have that much walking.  We need to wear stockings to work, so as the day wore on, the shoes loosened up and kept slipping off of my heel!  I will try them sometime with bare feet or they might end up back at Goodwill.  They are so cute though.

My husband has the livng room painted.  I promise you a picture when we get the furniture in.  EVERRYTHING is a mess!  The living room furniture and all is crammed into the dining room and basement.  We had torn the carpeting out.  It was the original 40 year old carpet and pad.  The carpet was in decent shape and the lady who got it was thrilled to have it.  The pad on the other hand was a dried up crumbled mess!  We should have worn masks to take it out as I wonder how much dust we inhaled!

I am going  "camping" with my sister this weekend.  I am so proud of her.  She traded her larger motor home for a smaller one plus cash.  She knows alot about motor homes, but as a widow, this is her first major decision.  This weekend will be a time to read, relax, play cards, hopefully have enough sun (rain is predicted though).  We will make the best of it.

Work was stressful yesterday as I hate it when I screw up.  I had a huge migraine to start in the morning and didn't have much sleep because of it, so I am really looking forward to the weekend.  How about you?

A few Thoughts

I sing, I hum, I can't help it.  Sometimes it is because I am happy, sometimes it is to sooth me.  I sing quietly to myself, but I guess it annoys some people.  I do it unconsciously, but I guess it if is because I am happy, I don't want to quit.  If it is because I am nervous, I don't want to quit.  Could there be worse habits?  I don't want to annoy people, but I can't help it; it's like a tick.

Did you have a good Mother's Day?  I did.  I enjoyed spending time with my family and having my Mother with us another year!  I didn't get any cards, but did get a present from my son.  My husband is painting the living room this week.  He said that is my present and it works for me.

Birthday Flowers
Another work week.  It is getting better, but there are still changes all the time!  Oh well, I'll adapt!

Sayner Stampede

I got back from the Sayner Stampede on Sunday. What fun! Friday night I helped my Stampin Up  friend with the Round Robin. It is like teaching 5 classes, each group for 1/2 hour and then they rotate to the next table. I want to participate next year, but this year I helped teach. I had such a sore back as it was from 6:00 to 10pm!

Made some "make and takes on Saturday.

Saturday was the used stamp sale and the convention. I didn't sell too much stuff, but enough to pay my hotel room. Made the make and takes at the convention and got my creative juices flowing again! Friday night am getting together with same friends and making cards. Got a nap in on Saturday while my friends taught a class. Later we sat in the hot tub. That felt good! Sunday we stopped at the liquidators where I picked up some stuff for my New Orleans scrap book (go there in November). Later on we stopped at Goodwill where I got Mom a pair of shoes.

will use this for Mother's Day

The Week is Ending on a High Note

I have to get this off of my chest.....I hate the new format for blogger!  Phew!  I feel better now.  It is just more difficult to navigate and I miss the old one.

This week was not a good one at work.  I had explained to my son how I love my job and that I plan on working there at least five years (then retirement?).  When I got to work on Tuesday, my supervisor informed me that I was sending calls to the wrong numbers.  Now, this was not intentional, but all the extensions and calling protocol have changed, so it is a challenge.  She offered to give me tips, which I gladly accepted.  Anyway, I was making mistakes all week.  Glad my work week is over!   Still, I am glad my supervisor is so gentle in her constructive criticism.

Last night we had thunderstorms which kept me awake most of the night; that, and dreams about lions, tigers and bears on the loose and being attacked by them.  What is at the root of that dream?

This weekend I go up north with my bff and another friend to the Sayner Stampede. http://www.themark-itplace.com/stampede01.htm.  It is a weekend of making cards, jewelry, stamping vendors as well as a used stamp sale.  I have two boxes of stuff I no longer use.  Usually the money made from the stamp sale pays for our hotel.  Hopefully this weekend will get my creative juices flowing!
