About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Great News

No, I still don't have my pictures from Door County downloaded onto my computer.  Although I had a great time, more about that later!

The news is this:  I have gone from Stage IV Kidney Disease and on the transplant list, to being Stage III and not bad enough to be on a waiting list for a kidney.  What does this mean?  Keep on drinking my water and taking care of myself.  Woo hoo!  I still see the kidney doctor every six months and get lab, but that's a piece of cake.

I Need Directions!

Happy Friday!  Today I have off, so am planning a trip up to Door County (the peninsula of Wisconsin) to browse in the shops and have a wonderful lunch with my sister.

Work has had it's ups and downs this week.  It was slow, it was busy, but I survived!  It has been about seven months since I started at that clinic.  This week, some terrible mistakes (made by yours truly) were pointed out to me....so I could learn from them, of course, and I will.  Even though there were many, it was pointed out to me also that we all make mistakes!  Imagine that!  "You made some mistakes. Do it this way.  We all make mistakes."  That's that!  Gosh, I am certainly not used to that approach!

Well, you catch more flies with honey!  I offered to work extra days in August when almost everyone (but me) is taking vacation time.  I don't mind.  I like the extra money.

I have been considering giving up my blog.  After all, what is my purpose?  What is the direction of this blog?  I talk about my Mom, trips, work, just everyday stuff.  What do you think I should do?

I need direction, guidance, advice!

I am so excited!  I "met" a blogger...Nana.Diana Takes a Break at http://thenanadiana.blogspot.com/
The reason I have quotes around "met" is that we just met via email.  She lives just 45 minutes away!  I hope to meet her one of these days.  Who knows?  Maybe today will be the day!

Against popular opinion I have decided to postpone my garage sale.  It is supposed to be awfully hot and humid this week with possible rain, and I'M JUST NOT READY!

Just thought we could cool off with this picture!

What Day is It?

It's Friday the 13th!  I'm not superstitious, are you?  I did wake up during the night thinking today was Saturday and I didn't have to work today.  After I realized it was Friday, I went back to bed to catch more
Z's.  Has that ever happened to you that you forgot what day it is?

Still debating whether to have a garage/rummage/yard sale or not.  What do YOU think?  So much work, so little time!

Not Much of a Summer

So far it hasn't been much of a Summer.  I have been spending off time either doing laundry, taking naps or visiting Mom.  Yesterday I had great intentions of going to the pool or beach with my sister.  Instead I went to the hospital to see my brother and his wife.  My sister-in-law had an 90% blockage near her heart and had to have a stent put in.  Needless to say, we were all shook up about that!  Thankfully, the surgeon got rid of the blockage and SIL is doing well.

I am debating whether to have a garage sale or not.  They are so much work, and do I want to spend my off days trying to sell my stuff?  What would you do?

It's a Good Week

I didn't go to church today.  I kept going back to bed.  Obviously still tired and catching up on sleep this week.

This week was unremarkable with the exception of our Red Hat outing.  I worked and worked some more.
It has been slow at work, but busy-ness comes in spurts and Thursday morning I felt like crying, but I DIDN'T!  I am hoping to get a handle on my depression and overt emotion,  so that I can go off those pills that give me the awful nightmares.  Does anyone else suffer from hormone imbalance?

Last night we took Mom out to dinner.  She was feeling better (her oxygen is still turned up) but she felt good enough to eat ribs and broasted potatoes!  She was a good little eater.  So was I. *wink*

The temperature in near the high 70's as we live by a big lake.  Good to have a break from the 90's, which is rare around here.  Maybe I will go for a walk today.  Maybe I will clean....or not.

Have a good week.

I Can Breathe Again!

Finally, after waiting, and waiting (over the weekend), we got the results of Mom's
CT Scan.  It was NORMAL!  I can breathe again.  Why does the doctor's office let the report sit on the desk?  Don't they realize there are anxious people waiting for news?  I suggested the nursing home call the clinic on Tuesday and ten minutes before I was ready to leave Mom's, the report came in.  Well, praise God!

One of our girls enjoying her very first S'more ever!

Last night we had a Red Hat event.  Although it was hot, it wasn't so bad in the shade in the evening.  It was supposed to be a weinie roast, but it was too hot and dry, so our hostess' hubby cooked the dogs on the grill.  Yum!  There were chips, fruit, salads, and S'mores for desert.  I don't like marshmallow that much but I do love chocolate!

It's all about friendship and food!
