About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

The Week after Easter

Easter was a wonderful celebration of God and family.  After church we went out to eat and after that we gathered at my brother's house.  My mother had such a good time.

Here she is with her dog on her lap!  My brother has her dog now.
This week has gone well at work....praise God!

I had off Thursday and had to run many errands, one which was a repeat mammogram
of my left breast.  I thought it would be routine.
They used a special magnifying plate and also a small, maybe 4x4" plate to compress the area.
When they compressed it so hard, it brought tears to my eyes, they cranked it two more times.
I have never felt so much pain in a long time.
When I get back from vacation, I get to have a biopsy.  I am not worried as much as I don't like pain.

Tomorrow I leave for Florida!  I am so excited to leave the now dirty snow, the cold temps and relax in the warm sunshine!  It will be so much fun to see my cousin again and get goofy with her.  We both like scrapbooking and I am bring a card kit along to make some cards!

Well, I better get going if I am going to do laundry, paint my toenails, pack, etc.!
