About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Vacation is Almost Over!

Vacation Day 3 and 4

Started the day lounging, then decided to walk to the strip mall.  HAD to stop in Bell's department store to get  out of the heat.  I bought a new purse as my traveling purse had decided to fall apart this trip.  My sister also bought a few things.  All was 30% off plus an extra 15% for 50 is Fabulous savings!  Stopped at Sonic on the way back.  I love their burgers and now I love their fries!

Pool Days Interruptus:  Tuesday was at the pool for a while when Mother Nature called in the worst way.
There is a restroom near the pool, but some instances call for your "own."   Enough said.  We went back later.

On Wednesday we went to the pool earlier only to be interrupted by rain clouds.  Got back to the condo before it rained.  We returned to the pool after the outburst, but I tell you, I would never get a tan that way!

For dinner we went to the Black Eyed Pig which has the best barbecued ribs....yum!   ( Pictures to follow.)

Vacation Day 5

Can't believe vacation is almost over.
We joined the Red Hat group here for a food tour.  We boarded a small bus and went to an oilier, a place that sells fresh Olive Oils of all types and flavors.  Never realized there were so many.  Learned all about poly phenols in the oil and how beneficial they are.  For lunch we went to a cafe that  had flat bread sandwiches and scrumptious salad.  (Again, pictures to follow.)  After lunch we went to a Chocolate Store.  OMG!  They could make the chocolate scent into a perfume!  It smelled so good.  We had samples and all had to buy some chocolate for the road!  We finished the tour with a pastry shop.  Their pastries were as pretty as they were tasty.  My cousin and sister bought me a tiramasu cake for my birthday.

We took a much needed rest and then went to the beach to watch the sunset.  We enjoyed lounging on the sand, in anticipation.  The clouds cheated us of a glorious sunset, still the time was so relaxing...would love to take home and savor that memory.

Good News:  My ID came in the mail today from my hubby.  Now I can go home without a hitch.
