About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Life is Good

Dear Readers, how have you been?  I'm fine.
Finally got at my bedroom.  (will save the windows and curtains for Spring).  There was a legion of dust bunnies living in my room, most hiding behind and under my bed!  Be gone!
Yesterday I got a call from the Senior Center if I could fill in at reception.  Sure, but I was a bit rusty!
I will have to go in more often to observe!
I was asked to take some online training for the Salvation Army to work in their clinic.  I  haven't heard anything new since then.
I haven't felt like crafting but the cleaning bug has bit me.....also cooking...imagine that!  Yesterday I made some potato soup.  It got orange from the carrots and wasn't creamy, but it tasted good!
So, that is all that is new.  Life isn't always exciting, but it's good.

There's nothing wrong with a good, but not exciting, life!!It's the perfect time of year to cook and clean. When I make my potato soup I saute the onions and carrots then add flour to the mix and that thickens it. Just a thought.

I had to laugh when you said you were cleaning because the post before that you said "I don't feel like cleaning". See how things go in cycles? Life does not have to be exciting to be good. Sometimes I wish my life was a little less exciting so I had some ME time! Have a good rest of the day- xo Diana
