About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

The After Christmas

What happens after Christmas?  I visited my sister who gave me more cookies, then on to my brother's house where my sister-in-law gave me coconut fudge.  Yes, I am eating it all and the scale
doesn't lie!  Eventually it will be gone and I can go back to watching my weight.
My son and I went to visit Mom the other day.  There was a "not so good" band playing in the
"town square."  I sat there and watched my son who is 28.  Not exactly his kind of music: gospel, a polka and Johnny Cash.  Mom enjoyed it though.  What we endure for those we love!
That night we went to see "The Hobbit, The Desolation of Smaug."  We didn't realize this was a sequel to a movie I got for Christmas (The Unexpected Journey).  We also didn't realize that it is a prequel and ended abruptly without a conclusion!  We then went to Applebees for half price appetizers...can't go wrong on that!
Yesterday I went with my bff  to her son and daughter in law's house.  They live in "the middle of nowhere" according to my Godson.  They have a very nice family and I have a soft spot for the granddaughter who is 13 already!  I gave her a bunch of nail polishes which she greatly appreciated.
Coming home I tried to catch the sunset, but is difficult in a moving vehicle!
Too bad we were on the freeway, or we could have pulled over.
My bff did take a detour before taking us home.  We went to a house that has Christmas lights to music.  Spectacular and much appreciated!

Very pretty sunset! Love the pink tones of the sun.
May it be Blessed.
