About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Between the Snowfalls

We had some wicked snowfalls, and were supposed to be going to Bible Camp two hours away for a scrap booking weekend.  The snow had come down heavy and wet, but by the time we left, the plows and sand trucks had done their job and we made the trip.

I had a personal accident, so we were on a mission for underpants and some jeans.  We stopped at Goodwill and K-mart.  I got what I needed.  The jeans didn't fit, but I wore my sweat pants for the weekend.

  1. The area was beautiful especially with the snowfall.
  2. The food was scrumptious!  Can you imagine cinnamon swirl pancakes with cream cheese frosting?
  3. Made new friends.
  4. Made some fun projects.
  5. Scrapped ALL of my New Orleans pictures!
  6. Won the big raffle prize....a magnetic board for a scrap page or cards.

just some cards

Coming home we stopped at Goodwill in another town.  I found three sweaters all at half price and was able to take back the things from the previous trip that didn't fit.  We ate at the Olive Garden for lunch....Yum!

Work has been going well.  Yesterday we had another huge snowfall...about a foot of new snow.  Hubby had off so he took me to work.  We had to get there early for a meeting.  We barely made it off of our street, but got there just the same.  Hubs shoveled a path for "his princess" to the employee entrance.  I got in and the alarm went off!  I got so nervous, I forgot what to do!  Okay, breathe, call the police and let them know you aren't an intruder, call the security guard.  Finally, got the alarm off!
Had just used the grill on Monday night....now look at it!

Got to leave work an hour early yesterday.  We had so many cancellations!  We went to pick up our son from work and ate at Panda Express.  The food was good, but we have several take out Chinese restaurants where we have leftovers and then there are the Chinese buffets as well.  Still, it was a treat.

Got my nails done the other day.  It happened so fast!  I just wanted to know how much it cost and before you knew it , I was getting them done.  Oh well....so pretty!

This and That

How have you all been?  I have been wonderful with the exception of my bff's Mom's passing.  At least she went peacefully.  We will have and share wonderful memories of her today.

Work was good this week!  Woo hoo!  Next week I start training to close the clinic.  Note to self:  TAKE NOTES!

I am really thinking the medication increase is helping me.  That is a good thing.  I am debating whether I really want to or need to take Intermittent Leave of Absence for my depressive episodes.
Monday I have counseling and will discuss it with my counselor.

How was your Valentines' Day?  Mine was okay.  Worked, came home to flowers, candy and a card.  Hubby makes sure to cover all the bases!

I am tired of snow, rain, ice, slush, snow, ....did I say snow?
Ughhh!  I am not a winter person.  I cannot wait till April 7th when I fly to sunny Florida!

I don't like cable companies!  This week we spent a good portion of our time getting our cable/internet working again after calling an 800 number.  Yesterday, my sister and son dealt with another cable company trying to get my Mom's new TV activated.  Finally, a techinician came to fix the problem.  It is a new TV and the color is fine, but Mom is still not satisfied.  Please pray for her and her TV.  I know it sounds strange but it's all she has.

All that's New

Mom got a new TV.  With her vision problems, she just wasn't happy with hers, so what the heck?  That is how she spends her time.  Maybe hubby and son will set it up today.

Work was not going well at all.  I was told I am not allowed to be negative or cry anymore.  That is hard to do when you battle depression.  It is like telling a diabetic not to have diabetes anymore.  So, I went back to the doctor and she increased my meds.  My doctor also suggested she complete an intermittent medical leave form in case I break down again.  I also made a counseling appointment.

We had about 10inches of snow yesterday and the snow plow came through our street so late!  Husband and son both had to take a vacation day and I had to go into work late.  I did have a good day though without any confrontation.  I called hubby up and said, "let's celebrate," so we went out for a fish lunch as we call them.

My bff has had some sad news this week.  Her mom fell, got pneumonia, got dehydrated and now is dying.
Bff is sitting with her sister and Mom just waiting.  How sad but she seems to be at peace with it.  My love goes out to them.

I am playing Matchmaker.  I asked a guy at church if he would like to meet my sister.  So tomorrow night the three of us are meeting for dinner.  I am my sister's moral support.  My husband won't have anything to do with it.  Hope it goes well!
