About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Random Thoughts

Not a whole lot new here.  I am still having nightmares, waking up thinking I am crying, but my jaw is clenched.  I appease myself with chocolate chip cookies.  My diet and all my good intentions have gone to hell in a hand basket!

Something is wrong with my husband's car, so he is using mine.  That leaves me without a car.
I have been looking at cars, and have my eye on a little blue Ford Focus.  I feel like that car has just called my name,  but, maybe I should wait and see how our finances shake out after taxes.  My husband said there will always be good deals, but is his car going on the fritz an omen?  I just have to trust God if it is meant to be, it will be.

Saturday night we went out to dinner.  I need my "dates" with my hubby!  We went to a bar that was recommended to us for having good food.  It is a bar in the middle of the country and it has a side room.  I had a NY strip with sautéed shrimp for $15 and Jim had the strip steak for $10.  Our food was delicious!  We will be going back.  The side room was quite nice, and even though the bar got quite rowdy, we enjoyed ourselves.
