About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Another Day, Another Purse!

Yesterday was a beauuuuuuuuutiful day!  I spent it going to visit Mom.  She has been quite tired of late.  I also think she is having Spring fever.  I will be so glad when the weather is more dependable and we can take her out.  Maybe I will shoot for later this week.
The Salvation Army still wants me to make calls to pharmacy companies to get medical supplies and such.  I was supposed to go tonight, but the nurse is not available to go through it with me.  I said April will be better after my vacation.  I have a meeting for volunteers on Thursday night and will be working reception on the 25th for their clinic.
I bought a purse on eBay today.  I know, another purse, but this one is a Travelon bag.  It will have room for my medical supplies, a water bottle, camera, money, etc.  This just may be my Summer bag!
I am getting excited.  Hubby and I leave for our trip on April 5th to tour Savannah, Georgia and also Beaufort, South Carolina.  It is a bus trip sponsored by the Senior Center and was quite reasonable.  I like having my hotels, meals, and tours all planned out for me.  The weather will be in the 70's!
I have been to Savannah once visiting with friends, and thought Jim has got to go here some day.
I am happy for the opportunity and hope that Jim enjoys this trip.
