About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Memories to Record and Some Better Forgotten

Last weekend I went with my bff to our annual scrap booking retreat with our Ahni and Zoe consultant.  It was at Pine Lake Camp near Waupaca, WI (where we went last Fall).  That one was sponsored by the camp, but this one is through the consultant.  She had one last February and it snowed and I think she ordered snow again!  Well, we made it, and it was so nice to be at camp as it is so beautiful with all the knotty pine, fireplace, etc.  The meals are provided all day Saturday and
Sunday for breakfast.  There were plenty of snacks too!

Oh!  And we scrap booked!    I scrap booked my photos that were in an album that wasn't acid free, so took them out of there and wa lah!  I still want to do some journaling as this trip was in 2000 and my memory is already going!  The important thing is that it was our first big trip to celebrate my good health and being cancer free!  It was the first time I saw the Caribbean (St Thomas), iguanas, salamanders and ate mango!  My scrapbook is nothing fancy, but I like it and it is full of good memories.

And....I made some cards.
The bad news is that I got quite ill Friday night and our consultant and another gal brought me to the ER in Waupaca.  So over the icy roads we go!  I have Interstitial Cystitis and it decided to flare.  It is like a really bad bladder infection that has no cure, but with luck , can be controlled.  They gave me a couple of shots, one to relax pelvic spasms, and one for pain.  I get sick from ALL narcotics, so then I was sick from that!  I spent most of Saturday sleeping, but managed to get some work done.  Then, on Sunday, I felt another flare coming on so we went straight home.  Later that night, hubby took me back to ER and I am back on my meds that I had discontinued a year ago when I was in remission.
Did I tell you I won a prize?  I won a paper punch that embosses and punches out a star!

What a wonderful scrapbook and memories of such a great trip. So sorry you got sick over the weekend. We have had a stomach virus and have been sleeping much of the week!
Congrats on winning the prize!
Hope you begin to feel much better.

Nice cards! I need to work on my scrapbooks...piles of photos just waiting!

Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery...or at least to controlling that issue.

Oh- I am so sorry that you were sick on your scrapbooking weekend. That is no fun at all. It's too bad that you are having another flare. I hope that the meds bring it back under control quickly.

Blessings, Deb. You have sure had your hands full with health issues and your Mom. xo Diana
