About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Throw Back Thursday - My Sweetheart

This young couple had their picture taken in 1979 about six months after dating.  I loved him then, and love him now!  He was standing up for (one of ) his sister's wedding.  They didn't want me in the big family picture.  Shame on them!  A year later, we were married!

Neither of us have the hair anymore (Thank God on my part!).  Both of us have gained a person between us (and I am not talking about our son, but weight!)  Hubby lost half of his hair, shaved the mustache when our son noticed the gray (that was a long time ago too).

I miss being that thin, but don't really miss being that young.  Time has mellowed us.  We don't argue
much  (except about the cable company and the evils of brussel sprouts).   I loved dating but still enjoy just being home knowing he is in the other room (don't tell him that or he won't take me out to dinner any more).

I really do need a current picture!

Awesome picture; awesome tribute! Too bad there aren't more couples that can be like that and stay together as long.

What a cute photo. My hubby and I just celebrated when we met 20 years ago. We've changed a little, too! haha! But it's all been great. Enjoy your weekend sweet friend! Hugs, Diane
