About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Skipped Spring and going into Summer!

My week didn't start out too well.  I got several mosquito bites and I get humongous welts from them.
This is one bite on my upper arm.  You can see the light area...that is where the swelling is.  This lasted over two days and was warm to the touch.
Doctor visits during the week.  No change in my kidneys.  That's good.
Went to Jazzercise and couldn't finish one of the routines.  I was so out of breath and dizzy!   I have had shortness of breath and stuffiness ever since my bronchitis in April.  I am going to the doctor on Monday as I think I need an inhaler.  Always something!
On a happy note I went to garage sales with my bff, Linda.  She was wearing her wig and looked just lovely!  It was nice to get out even though it was a tad chilly.  (I wore shorts anyway!)    She found some great bargains including a tote (I found it) for her laptop!  I got a couple of photo albums and some clear acrylic ornaments to decorate (a project in my head).
I am making plans for a mini vacation.  We had wanted to drive up to Bayfield and tour the Apostle Islands (Wisconsin), but it would be more than we can afford.  Plan B:  go up north to the Eagle River area, stay in the motel (where Linda and I stay when we go up north for stamping convention).  Rustic Manor Motor Lodge  has breakfast, a pool and hot tub and is very clean.  We can drive to area shops and attractions.  Maybe I will luck out and we can go on a pontoon cruise!
We were going to have rotisserie chicken last night, but the store was out!  Plan B: sub sandwiches.
An uneventful week, some good, some bad, but mostly okay.
Have a blessed Sunday!

My youngest daughter gets huge welts from mosquito bites but only in the month on August. She has a spray that she uses to dissipate the swelling.

That is a nasty looking "bite" on your arm. UGH. Hope the dr can figure out why you aren't feeling your best-your are right-it is always something.

Glad you spent some time with Linda. I bet she looks great in her wig!

Plan B sounds good to me. That is a great place to visit! xo Diana
