About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Winding Down to Wind Back Up Again!

Not much new here.  Found out that NyQuil (even without the alcohol) helps give me a good night's sleep without coughing.  I need to get a humidifier!

I went to the thrift store yesterday to pick up a yard of fabric for a craft project. I got the fabric, two tee shirts (in the wash) and these cute Hush Puppies (which were like new) for $5.

Just perfect with a dress or pants when I want a little dressier look than my usual sandals.  They are canvas, so I don't know how long they will look like new, but I am sure to get my $2 worth out of them!

I got into a little fracas on Facebook.  All I said was, "It breaks my heart when someone loses the faith they had as a child."  Well, a "friend" responded with a huge religious rant about organized religion, Jesus and the Bible.  I tried to reason with her, but to no avail.  I talked to my pastor about this last night and he said I should continue to profess my faith and stick with scripture, but to expect attack.

My bff, Linda and I are going on another road trip.  We are picking up another lady and the three of us are going to the other side of Minnesota (almost to Sioux Falls, SD).  My friend Judy has a large house and there will be seven of us (one is coming with her husband  in their motor home). Glad Judy's husband will have some company other than us women!  We will spend the week doing various crafts and maybe I'll learn something new, but it is sure to be fun!

I will update you when I get back next week!  (Can you tell I'm excited?)
