About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

What's Been Going on in My Life

Vacation was fun, although it probably isn't most people's cup of tea.  We were up north and did some gambling at the Indian casinos on the reservations.  My husband and I did rather well and it paid for the hotel room.  I enjoy dining out.  Most meals were nothing to brag about but I had a wonderful meal on the way up.  It was a spicy  pasta with shrimp and oriental vegetables.  YUM!

We also played bingo at the Community hall.  The raffles and bingo raises money for the community and is rather affordable.  It was fun, but we were losers.  That night we spent some time in the hot tub and that always feels good.

We stopped at the liquidators on the way home so I could pick up some "necessary" scrapbooking supplies.

I had the onset of a bladder infection during vacation, but didn't know it  as I didn't have the usual symptoms.  Just the urgency and inability to void.

I was home about a day or two and ended up in ER.  The pain was excruciating and I was experiencing abdominal pain and nausea.  My doctor told me to go to ER where it was diagnosed as a very bad UTI.  I went back on antibiotics and on the advice of my bff,  am also taking probiotics.  The probiotics are certainly helping my GI tract.

So, there you have it.  I have nothing really exciting to report.  I'm just trying to stay healthy.

I scanned this picture of my great grandparents on my mother's side.  I am not sure when this was taken.  They look quite old, and Mom was 94, so it has to be the 30's or 40's.  I wish there was a date on it.  Great Grandfather started the cheese making business in the area.

That sounds like a very nice vacation.
Love the old picture! Is that a cake they are holding? That might be a clue as to the date. Anniversary? Birthday?
