About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

A Week of Woes, but a Great Weekend Ahead!

This has been a week of woes!

To begin with, I was suffering from emotional issues dealing with my bbf's cancer and how it has brought up all kinds of emotions and memories from my sister's battle with cancer.  I have to remember that there are more advances in treatment now and to go with the flow.

Then, on the recommendation of my dentist, I went to the periodontist.  I have to have extensive work done or I will lose my teeth.  Well, I guess I will do what I have to do and pay the piper (or the periodontist!)  FLOSS, FLOSS, FLOSS!

Started getting back pain on my lower right side and into my hip and down my leg.  One day I could barely move.  I will see the chiropractor for that one!

Today I go to re-establish with a urologist for my Interstitial Cystitis.  It is a condition where the bladder lining has pin point ulcerations, causing urgency and frequent urination, bladder spasms, and pain.  I have been on medication for it for years and that seems to help.  I hope this doctor doesn't change my treatment or want to do a cystoscopy.

On the bright side:

Yesterday I found a girl's 24" bike 3-speed bike with fat tires!  It is just right for my short little legs and body!  It will be good to get a little exercise.

Today  I am going to my great niece's 6th birthday party!

She's a beautiful child, but really active!

This weekend is Shanty Days in Algoma which isn't that big of a drive from here.  Love to browse at the crafts, and just be outdoors!
