About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Vacation - Day 2

Monday, November 3rd
We took it easy today.  My cousin had an appointment for a haircut.  We shopped around Goodwill.  I found a pair of Clarks clogs for $10 and they are like new.  I am undecided as to whether I will keep them or not. (Thank goodness you can exchange from one Goodwill to another for credit).  Maybe I am just not used to wearing shoes.  When my cousin met up with us, we went to Beal's Outlet.  Oh, did I save money!  I bought some Christmas gifts, and, of course, clothes! I got a pair of casual knit pants for the plane (didn't like the ones I came down in and gave those to my sister as they fit her better).   I also found two cute tops and a pair of skinny slacks that I will keep for Christmas!
We went out for lunch/supper and  had crab cake sandwiches.  I have had better crab cakes, but it was okay.  They have a little gift shop and I would have loved to purchase many of the sauces, mixes and jams.
I'm the gooney bird in the middle...lol
We didn't do much else that day.  Shopping just took it out of us.  My cousin and I crafted away.  I can't show you what I was doing as it is for a secret ornament exchange!  My cousin worked on her scrapbook and we watched The Voice.  I usually don't watch that show, but they are both fans of it.
It was just a relaxing day.
