About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Busy Holiday Weekend!

Valentine's Day is not that special to us.  (Isn't every day Valentine's Day?)
I gave my sister the Valentine that I had made previously at one of my parties!
I found some pretty Valentine cards at the thrift store:  One for Husband and one for Son!
I also tweaked this card for my husband.
Jim came home from work and stopped at the grocery store.  He bought me flowers, and some groceries!  He said they didn't have any cards.  I think he should have asked someone.  Oh well, not a biggy, but I did have to tease him.  We have been married almost 35 years.  I know he loves me!
Saturday I went to a friend's golden wedding anniversary.  Jim stayed home as originally I thought that there weren't going to be any men that he would know there.  Our best friends went....husband and wife!
This is the card I made for Carolee and Jon.  (wish you could see the glitter)
Carolee, bff, Linda and myself!  Great selfie, Carolee!
I don't use a camera anymore, just my phone.  I love it!
Sunday morning I was so tired.  I just felt so run down!  I skipped church and went back to bed.
In the afternoon I picked up Linda and her grandson to go play Bingo at our church.  This was a new activity for our church, but the Ladies wanted to plan something fun to break up this winter.  The prizes were deserts.  I won black-out and chose a German Chocolate Pie, as I figured hubby would like that the best!  Jalen  (Linda's grandson and my Godson) won many deserts as well, plus we gave him some cupcakes that we had won to share with his family!  He had fun!  We all did.
My bladder had started to act up in the afternoon.  I ate the wrong foods that day.  OJ in the morning and leftover  lasagna at noon.  Both are too acidic for me, so took one of my pills and opted to sit on a pillow while playing Bingo!
The Ladies served Sloppy Joes, Potato  Salad - hot and cold, chips, pickles and more deserts!
Of course these are all the wrong foods for both Linda and I!  I had seconds on the cold potato salad, but should have skipped the Sloppy Joe.  Well, I had already taken my pill, so I was okay but I have to watch what I eat this week!
