About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Yesterday was a GREAT DAY!

Yesterday was such a great day!  I was still feeling good from my medication and I am watching what I eat and drink.  Friday night when my "boys" had chili, I had a fish lunch.  (Tomato based and spicy foods are not good for me.)

In the morning, I connected with a person on a Facebook group for scrapbooking.  She is a Close to My Heart Consultant, but doesn't really sell.  She likes to scrapbook and organize scraps for her group to get together.  My friend and I will probably join in even though it is 45 minutes away.  That's not that long of a drive!

I went to my Cricut class.  At first I was apprehensive as there were quite a few women there and it was crowded and supplies were limited, but they all made room and shared.  The instructor who is also a  Close to My Heart Consultant and my friend,  was SO  helpful!

These are the cards she made, but mine are just like them except my scenery one is not colored yet.

I was so amazed and excited when I saw I saw how I could use my Cricut to create these cards!  I have had the machine for two years and was afraid to use it!

I didn't color because I had to rush home so hubby and I could go to my favorite store in Green Bay, Christopher & Banks.  They were holding a basic navy 3/4 sleeve tee in my size as it was the last one and I couldn't get it online.  I picked up a few more things.  After all, I had my C&B charge card and then you got 35% off and the stuff that was already on sale went on my gift card.

We had to try out the new Firehouse Subs in Green Bay.
I got the Hero Sub. It was not low calorie but it was good!  Yes, their subs do have more meat on them!  They do have low cal subs and salads for those who want to go that route.  I am learning to go without Pepsi and diet sodas.  I don't have soda very often because of that.

It's a good thing, Martha Stewart would say!

glad you had a great day and you do sound so much more cheerful, and you're right as Martha would say, "That's a Good Thing!"

I am so happy that you had a good day. I don't like hot and spicy foods at all, nice to know I am not alone. The cards are lovely.

Oh my goodness, your card is beautiful! You are going to have so much fun! When my daughter left home in 2000 for college, I was lost. I poured my days into scrapbooking her life with Creative Memories. I loved it. I would cut and paste and cry. Now they do all the cutting and pasting via technology. It's not nearly as fun as playing with paper and scissors. I'll always be a little girl.
