About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

To Sleep, per Chance to Dream....

This is getting old!  I have been waking up at 4 am and can't get back to sleep!
I wake up with a headache, and after a cup of coffee,  it goes away.

Maybe I am just too excited to sleep?  Tomorrow morning my hubs and I start our journey to San Antonio, Texas.  It will be a long bus ride, with many breaks in between, such as St Louis and Oklahoma City, and that is mostly to eat or to sleep.  Thank God there are bathroom breaks every two hours!

Speaking of....I have had two good days in a row without having to take any pain medication!
Woo hoo!  Tuesday was not good, and usually I alternate, but two days in a row!!!  I am still bringing all my meds and my heating pad!

I had to re-pack and plan.  It will be warmer that originally predicted.  None of my capris fit.  I have lost a dress size. (no cookies, no soda, etc)

Today I have to iron some shorts. (even if I have chicken legs).  I have to finish doing laundry, go to the bank, and go back and get my eyeglasses adjusted for the third time....they are killing me!

Our son took off of work next week to stay home.  We bought plenty of TV dinners and other microwavable foods for him to eat.  (the extent of his cooking)

I will "see" you when I get back!

Have a ball, Deb! I know you will. I hope you don't have any physical issues while you are gone. That is a long bus ride- hope that goes okay for you, too. xo Diana
