About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Fun Weekend, but Where is Spring?

The weekend goes too fast!  I never made it to the Hamilton Wood Type Museum.  I had such a case of sinusitis Saturday!  I was trying to do laundry, and my nose was running like a faucet!  I had a slightly sore throat and just felt yucky!  So I took an allergy pill, drank some honey and lemon tea and took my usual afternoon nap!
In the morning, I had gone through my "skinny" bin.  I found a pair of shorts, capris, and dress pants!  As I try things on, and they are too big, they will go in that bin.  So far I have only lost on the bottom!
My bust is as big as ever, just lower!
I had purchased some things online.  I often do from my favorite store, Christopher & Banks.  I
ordered one size smaller, and still, the items were too big!  So, Saturday, we went to Green Bay to exchange the items.  The skort didn't fit just right, a little big in the waist, but a belt will help.
It is a dark stone wash and has a rose pattern in it!
They didn't have these walking shorts in my size, so have ordered through the store...hope they fit!
Had to buy the next pair, as they fit PERFECT!
I probably have more capris than I need now!  At least the clerk, knowing that I'm a regular, took a coupon out of the drawer and applied it to my purchase!  It is too easy to shop with a credit card!
After shopping we went to Red Lobster.  I had a coupon for a free appetizer and the Lobster/Artichoke Dip did not disappoint!  The dinner was okay, but I probably could do better and on less money!
Sunday I went to Stackfest as described by my best friend, Linda at  Linda Loves Chocolate.  It was so cold out!  We went early enough and went where we could sit inside a bar and grill and have a hamburger.  After about an hour, we went down by the river.  There were just a few people sitting there, so I thought maybe it was private property.  No, it was some high school friends of mine and their family!
We are bundled up!  I wore a sweatshirt and heavier jacket over that!  We both have our winter hats on!  My friend Kathy, offered her my chair and a blanket as Linda went back to the car and came back with more blankets and chairs!  We were set and had front row seats!

What is left of Hamilton Industries.  There was a huge radius that was evacuated and blocked off!
(I forgot to shut off my phone after the implosion.)
All of the fuss and for just a few seconds!  It took much longer for everyone to leave from the area and drive away!

Happy that you enjoyed the weekend! Yes, it is pretty cold here in Montreal as well and is supposed to be for a couple more days. I just put a jacket on and go out. :) After the few very hot and humid days for myself the cooler temperatures are welcome. Take care of yourself, warmer weather will be back. :)

I saw that on the news, Deb. A part of history in the making there. It will be interesting to see what happens to that property.

Good for you for continuing to lose weight! You must feel so good about it. I know I always do when I am "down" weightwise..and then beat myself up when I gain some back. It's always a struggle to get/keep it off. I am thrilled for you! xo Diana
