About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Surprise? I'm Back!

All about the food?

The last two weeks have been very busy.  A week ago Thursday our Red Hat group went to a dinner show.  The food was good/bad....some really good, some not so much.  The show was fun and I would probably do it again.

Friday my sister, my bff and I went to the Senior Center Fish Boil, the first of the season!  YUM!

This week has been Doctor week!

Monday we went to see my new urologist.  I am fine now, but needed to establish in case my Interstitial Cystitis flares up again.  I think it is very important to have a good rapport with your doctor.  I told her in no uncertain words that as I see it, she is working for me.  I expect her to be familiar with my case when she sees me (know why I'm there) and if she has to have her nurse call me.  She agreed!

When we got out, it was raining cats and dogs!  Hubby could have used the valet service, but opted to park his own car, so he had to go get it.  He waited for the rain to let up, which it did momentarily, but then the thunder cracked, and he got soaked!

I am officially an old woman!

Wednesday I had to see the dermatologist.  Good news, moles are normal.  I have an age spot on my leg (thought it was a funky mole).  The planter's wart on my foot is a corn!  Oh well, life could be worse!

Last periodontal appointment!

The periodontist had to have one last look.  All is okay.  She mentioned doing it again to some teeth on the side of my mouth.  I told her that at this time, I didn't think I wanted to go through that again, for financial reasons as well as going through the whole process!

Today I have off!  Woo hoo!

Maybe I will sew, or clean out my purses.  (I plan on a rummage sale next month).  Tomorrow is a 50% sale at the Thrift Store!  Then, a card class.  Busy, busy, busy.

Urgent Prayers Needed!

This good looking guy is our nephew on my husband's side.  He has a very important job with his county's Sheriff's Department.  He is round 40 and has a young family.  Yesterday morning he had a stroke.  He is in ICU and unable to speak.  Please pray!
