About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Relay for Life and other News

I never did go to my class reunion.  By the time the weather cleared up last  Saturday, I decided to stay home and do laundry!  I didn't really feel like going alone.
The week was quiet.  On Monday, I met with my sister and we finally went through Mom's jewelry and papers.  We each took some things, but most of her jewelry was costume jewelry and will go in my rummage sale.  I took Mom's little gold wedding band from our dad.  I am also the keeper of the birth and baptism certificates. I love this one from Germany.  Mom was born in Wisconsin but the church used these certificates.  It was falling apart, tearing at the creases.  I just put it in a frame.

This last weekend was the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.  I went to support my bff, Linda.
After we were done there, Linda and I went to a rummage sale with scrapbooking things. One can never have too many crafting supplies!
I have a shopping problem!  With the Internet, and Pay Pal, it is just too darn easy!  Lately I have purchased model Cindy Crawford's "Meaningful Beauty" system and should have skin just like hers and look decades younger!  (Early morning infomercial!)  I purchased a new and improved Sonic Electric Toothbrush  (a deal on one of the morning TV shows).
I have also discovered Scrapbook selling sights and bought some embellishments.  Oh, and of course, I had to have some of these purse organizers.  I can use them for my Bible journaling, scrapbooking, or to organize my purse!
I have also purchased a new item for over my sofa, but will wait until hubby hangs it up to show you a picture!
Lately, I can't hang on to money.  We should probably purchase a new stove and refrigerator while I still have it.
