About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

My Cousin's Visit

I have not been blogging....(obviously).  This is a busy time of the year.

I enjoyed my visit with my cousin.  Linda taught us how to make a "file" book.

back of book

As you can see, there are a lot of folds.  Normally would keep blank squares for pictures, but I am just using this as a template.
We were quite pleased!

The last day, my cousin and I went out for lunch, and they can't get lake perch in Naples, Florida!
Yum!

She was only here from Monday through Wednesday.  Monday night I had a potluck here with our family
Shirley, brother Stan, me, sister Connie

Nice to have everyone together at home where we could visit.
We also shopped (Hobby Lobby), crafted, went to Gallagher's Pizza (my favorite),
crafted some more, ate, visited....  The time just flew by!

I'm So Excited! ....and I just can't hide it...

Caught the sunset as we were going to get our son from work.  "Stop the car, I need this!"  Of course the photo doesn't do justice to God's handiwork.

Nothing to exciting to report this week.   Today we are having a Packer party at church.  I even got my hubby and son to attend (the party, not church)

Tomorrow morning my cousin from Florida will be here!  Jim is picking her up in the morning after work.  She is at her dad's up north, and her dad is driving as far as the outskirts of Green Bay so as to avoid all the construction (hate orange barrels and concrete barriers myself!)

We have so many plans for the week:  A stamp-along tomorrow (make 5 cards for $7) and a potluck here with the family tomorrow night.  On Tuesday, Linda is going to show us how to make a fancy scrappy book!  Tuesday night we will go out to eat.  On Wednesday, we will just chill, play, and maybe go to Hobby Lobby!  Plan on good ole Wisconsin brats on the grill that night!  On Thursday, in the wee hours, Jim is going to take her away from me and drop her off at the airport on his way to work.

My cousin is on the left, sister on the right of me.  (I don't know why my chin is up in the air!).

I  think next year I need to go to Florida!

Scrapping the Night Away and Enjoying the Sun!

I haven't felt like blogging, although I have much I could write about.

I spent last weekend at a  church camp retreat for scrapbooking fun!

I was busy scrapping away while my bff was being goofy for Halloween!  (She took these pictures)
All the ladies and staff were really nice and it is a wonderful camp.

Pine Lake is near Waupaca, Wisconsin, deep in the woods!   Friday night I was so tired, I just couldn't get inspired or motivated.  Saturday it rained all day so it was perfect for scrapbooking.  I am always the first one up, so started scrapping at 5:30am!  I scrapped until midnight (I did take breaks to eat and a few short naps).  On Sunday, the Creative Memories demonstrator gave out door prizes.  Guess who won the big prize?  I won a $50 shopping spree with her and so was able to buy border punches that I had wanted.

After lunch Sunday we were off,  and stopped at the Red Mill.  It is on the list of National Historic places.  Once it was an operating mill but now contains gifts and an ice cream parlor.

I would love this glider!

This area is truly beautiful.  Many come to visit just to reflect, to write, to get married, to get their engagement photos done, etc.  I think I will have to go there next fall during color peak with my husband!

As soon as I blogged about my health being better, I got a relapse of my IC (bladder condition).  Thankfully it only lasted a day.  Today I went in for the first of a series of bladder treatments.  After talking to the nurse, we both decided that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."  The treatments are only for those who cannot get their symptoms under control.  Since I can control mine with a heating pad, my pain pills and diet, I'm okay, but if the symptoms would go on for days at a time, then the treatments would be necessary.

P.S.  My husband forbade me to go on retreat on Halloween next year!
