About Me

My photo
I have spent a great deal of my life battling illness. I suffered from Crohn's Disease and eventually had abdominal surgery, thwarting the Crohn's and budding cancer cells. Since my surgery in 1995 I have been relatively free from Crohns', although I had several subsequent surgeries related to my ileostomy..When my disease was in remission, I don't think my husband realized how bad it could get, but he has stood by me. I also have suffered from various autoimmune disorders and am diagnosed with Stage IV Kidney Disease. Fortunately, I am maintaining and do not need dialysis at this point. We adopted our son and later found out he had cerebral palsy, so he became my career. Dan has had two surgeries and tons of therapy and is able to walk because of it. He is a college graduate and is employed as an Information Specialist. We are very proud of his accomplishements. I am now part of the retired generation and still getting used to the idea. I do enjoy crafting, traveling and being with family and friends. I am active in my church and feel that the hardships we endure are there to build our faith. I like to live life in the "now" as we never know how much time is left.

Time Moves Fast when Getting Ready for Vacation!

I thought I better write before I leave for our vacation!
Life has been uneventful.  It seems like all it has done is rain lately, but the sun is coming out this morning.
Last weekend we got our portraits taken for our church directory.  When I get the prints, you  will be the first to know!
Easter was Easter.  If we didn't go to church, you wouldn't have known it was Easter.
It is the only day of the year (besides Christmas), when my son and husband attend church with me.
We don't go for the breakfast and we don't hang around after.
One of my church friends took this photo.  It is so simple and yet so beautiful, with a glow of angel wings behind the cross.
I bought a lily and took it over to my friend, Linda, so she would have Easter in her home.
We had the "traditional" grilled steak and I made (for the first time) twice baked potatoes.  Yum!
We invited my sister, as she was alone for the holiday.
The next evening after Easter, I took my friend to the "Look Good, Feel Better" program at the hospital.    You can read all about it on Linda's blog, Chocolate, One of My Many Addictions.
She doesn't look like a sick person here!  So pretty!

Wednesday morning I treated myself to a spa pedi.  This place is so wonderful.  It is a restored older building, decorated in an industrial mode (so it is unisex).  I go in and they offer me tea, coffee, or water.  I also get a warm neck roll put on me.

At the foot basin, they help me choose the correct aromatherapy for my foot bath. I never did get the hang of the massage chair remote.   I get my toes done and the young lady who was working on my piggies and I had the best conversation!
I get another cup of tea while waiting for my toes to dry.  It is such a yummy tea.  They pour me one to take home.  It is good to be pampered.
I am getting ready to go to Arizona with my hubby for a long overdue BIG vacation.  I should be excited, but yesterday I was freaking out.  I have been having intestinal problems.  I don't know if there is a narrowing, or a kink in my bowel.  As experienced before, going on vacation with health problems is NOT fun!
My doctor prescribed me some pain pills to tide me over till I see the gastroenterologist (on my birthday!  I will drink gallons of water and watch my roughage!
I think I have to repack.  I am sure I over packed!  Re-do!  We are meeting up with one of my blogging friends (first time ever!).  Can't wait to meet Olivia and her husband!
Until I return....HUGS!

I hope your vacation goes well, without any pain or other hiccups. It will be so good to get away from our cold and snow. How fun to meet a blogging friend!
